September 18, 2017 – Oak Point Partners acquired the remnant assets of the RoomStore, Inc. Bankruptcy Estate (RoomStore) in September 2017. On December 12, 2011, RoomStore filed a voluntary chapter 11 petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, assigned Case No. 11-37790. Thereafter, the case was converted to chapter 7, and a trustee was appointed to liquidate the remaining assets of the estate.

Founded in 1993, Roomstore was a furniture, bedding, rugs and accessories retailer in the eastern and southern parts of the United States. The company specialized in the furnishing of an entire room, rather than selling individual furniture pieces. RoomStore was ranked as a top 25 furniture retailer in the United States. At its height, the RoomStore furniture chain operated 646 stores in eight states. The company was also a majority shareholder of Mattress Discounters Group, which operated 79 stores.
RoomStore also operated as Bargain Depot, HMY RoomStore, Inc., Reliable Stores, Inc., and The Hub.
The former headquarters of RoomStore was located in Richmond, VA.
